Is Rave still available?
On 14 Oct 2026, Rave's website showed a banner saying Apple removed Rave from the App Store. If anyone in your group uses an iPhone or iPad, check the App Store before you plan a night around it. Its website still lists Android, Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Android TV and Google TV.
Pick Teleparty if
- Everyone is watching on a laptop or desktop
- Some of you use Edge or Safari, not just Chrome
- Text chat is enough, or you're happy to pay for Premium to get calls
- You mainly watch Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max or Prime Video
Pick Rave if
- Your group watches on phones, tablets or a TV
- You want to talk while you watch without a paid plan
- You want to watch your own videos from Google Drive or Google Photos
- Nobody in the group depends on the iPhone App Store
A third option: Watch Party
If your group is on desktop and the sticking point is Teleparty's paid calls, Watch Party is another extension worth a look:
- Free group video and voice calls, in a side panel next to the video
- Keeps play, pause and seek in sync, while everyone plays on their own account
- Works on sites with a standard video player, not a fixed list of services
- Guest mode, with optional Google sign-in
- The trade-off: desktop Chrome only, so it won't help phone or TV watchers the way Rave does
