The free plan does the core job: everyone presses play on their own account and Teleparty keeps the show in step, with a text chat beside it. It also supports long parties and full-screen mode. If your group is happy typing, or you're already on a phone call together, free is enough.
What Premium adds
The main reason people upgrade is voice and video chat inside the party. Teleparty describes Premium as letting you "host unlimited watch parties with video calls on all supported channels". Premium vs Duo: which one?
- Premium is one Premium account. Pick it if you're the one who hosts.
- Duo is two Premium accounts you can link and unlink. It's priced for couples or two friends who both want Premium.
Do both people need Premium?
Teleparty's pricing page lists Premium as one account and Duo as two. It doesn't clearly say what a free guest can do inside a Premium host's video call. Before you pay for Duo just in case, ask Teleparty support or try the 7-day trial with your partner and see.
Whichever plan you choose, everyone still needs their own streaming subscription (Netflix, Disney+ and so on), because each person plays the video on their own account.

A free option with calls: where Watch Party fits
Watch Party is a free Chrome extension that keeps play, pause and seek in sync and has free group video and voice calls in a side panel, plus chat and reactions. It works on sites with a standard video player, not just a list of supported services, and guest mode works without an account (Google sign-in is optional).
