This policy covers the Watch Party: Sync Video, Chat & Call Chrome extension and this website.
In short
- We never see, record or store the video you watch. We sync a timestamp and a play or pause state. Everyone plays the video themselves, on the original website.
- You can use the extension without an account.
- We don't sell your data, ever, to anyone.
- We don't read the pages you browse.
The extension
What we collect
- As a guest: a generated user ID and display name, a session token that keeps you signed in, the rooms you join, and the messages you send. No email or sign-in required.
- If you sign in with Google: your email address, name and profile picture, so your account works across devices. We never receive your Google password and have no access to Gmail, Drive or Contacts.
- Your profile: display name, username, bio, avatar and status, whatever you choose to add, visible to other users.
- Basic usage statistics, such as rooms created and watch minutes.
- The address of the page a room is watching, shared with the people in that room so everyone lands on the same video.
- Support conversations, if you message us through Help & Support.
What we never collect
- The video, audio or screen content you watch
- Recordings of your camera, microphone or calls
- Your browsing history, or anything on pages where you haven't started a watch party
- Passwords, payment details or financial information
Video and voice calls
Calls are peer-to-peer. Audio and video flow directly between participants and are never routed through, recorded by, or stored on our servers.
How long we keep it
Your account and profile stay until you delete them. Direct messages and friend requests expire automatically. Usage statistics are deleted after 90 days. Rooms are removed once they end.
Your choices
- Use it as a guest without personal information
- Edit your profile at any time
- Clear your watch history, bookmarks and saved videos from the options page
- Delete your account, or ask for a copy of your data, by emailing us
- Uninstalling the extension stops all collection
This website
- Analytics with your consent: if you click Accept on the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages help people. If you decline, Google Analytics doesn't load.
- Cookieless statistics: we use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which count visits and measure page speed without cookies.
- Your choice is saved in your browser so we don't ask again. Clear your site data to change it.
- Links to the Chrome Web Store carry campaign tags so we can see which pages lead to installs. They don't identify you.
Security
Traffic between the extension and our servers is encrypted. Sessions use signed tokens that can be revoked.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date on this page.
